Dhofar governate and Salalah
Salalah is the main city of the Dhofar governate.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT), in partnership with Dhofar Municipality and Omran Group, has completed the development of four tourism projects worth more than RO3mn in Dhofar.
On Wednesday, the ministry announced the completion of the Mughsail Waterfront, Hamreer View, Darbat View and Ayn Jerziz projects.
‘These include new facilities to provide distinctive experiences for visitors to the governorate throughout the year,’ MHT stated.
Khalid bin Abdullah al Abri, Director General of Heritage and Tourism in Dhofar, had stated in May that the ministry is working to exploit and develop natural sites in the governorate to capitalise on the tourist seasons of khareef and spring.
Spread over 174,000sqm, the Mughsail Waterfront project has seen an investment of RO874,600 and includes parking lots, an events and activities arena, food kiosks, restaurants, a promenade on the beach, shaded sitting areas, picnic spots, and dedicated areas for exercise.
“It will also include facilities for marine sports, an adventure park and children’s games,” Abri said.
The Hamreer View project, spread over 50,000sqm, has been built at a cost of RO505,000.
Spread over 105,000sqm, the Darbat View project cost RO561,500. “It will provide a unique experience in hospitality and entertainment and include picnic spots and a platform to view the waterfall,” Abri informed.
The Ayn Jerziz project, built on an area of 40,000sqm, aims to improve public services and facilities and includes parking spaces, toilets and picnic spots.
“These projects will contribute to developing the governorate’s economy and revitalising the business sector. The sites will be offered to SMEs on lease or usufruct contracts.”
